3 Amazing Cleaning Products You Never Knew AboutAmong the long list of services that we offer at My Divine Concierge is our scheduled cleaning service. We can work with you to create a cleaning schedule that fits your needs and budget, taking into consideration any and all rooms in your home you want cleaned.

Having said that, we have picked up a lot of interesting cleaning tips and tricks over the years. We have even learned that there are some amazing cleaning products sitting around most homes that people don’t even know about. These are products that are purchased for some other purpose but also serve well for cleaning. Below are just three examples. If you’re like most people, you will be surprised to learn of them.

1. Fabric Softener Dryer Sheets

If you have fabric softener dryer sheets in your home, you are familiar with their intended purpose. You put them in the dryer in order to soften the clothes so that they do not come out feeling so rough. But it turns out that those same dryer sheets are fantastic for cleaning certain kinds of things.

We learned about the power of dryer sheets after reading a newspaper article about Florida’s love bugs. These bugs, once they get splattered on the front of your car, are virtually impossible to remove. What’s worse is the fact that the acidic carcasses of dead love bugs will do a number on your car’s finish. Dryer sheets are one of the few things you can use to clean the bugs off before they do any damage.

It turns out that fabric softener dryer sheets work on all sorts of things including glue, vinyl adhesive, paint, tar, and other really sticky substances that are hard to get off. Just grab a sheet, rub the area for a few seconds, and voilà – all done!

2. Baby Wipes

Baby wipes are an all-purpose cleaning product that work on a lot more than the backside of your infant. They are similar to dryer sheets except they do not contain any harsh chemicals. Two of the best places to use a baby wipe are carpets and painted walls.

When cleaning stains from carpets, the key is to get to the stains as quickly as possible. Gently rub the area with the baby wipe until the stain disappears, then dab the area with a paper towel or a dry rag. Using baby wipes on painted walls is a breeze. Just gently rub the spot until it goes away. We discovered that baby wipes work well on ink, make-up, food stains, and a lot more.

3. Cloth Diapers

Every household that includes wall-to-wall carpeting should have a supply of cloth diapers on hand. These things are amazing! With a cloth diaper and some immediate attention, you never have to live with stains in your carpets again.

Cloth diapers are designed to be ultra-absorbent. As such, they can save your carpets. For example,
let’s say you spill a glass of red wine on your brand-new Berber. If you have cloth diapers, there are no worries. Grab a diaper and place it over the wine. Then either stand on it or put a heavy weight on it. Whatever you do, don’t rub the carpet. Just let the diaper do its work for about 20 minutes. It will thoroughly soak up all the wine to the extent that there will be no stain in either the carpet or the pad underneath.

Cloth diapers also work well for cleaning up kitchen spills, washing the car, or cleaning the windows in the spring. Their super absorbency makes them the best tool for a lot of household jobs.

You may be aware of other amazing cleaning products not listed here. If so, that’s great. Whatever you can find to do the job the way you want it done is what you should use. We only recommend you keep a supply of dryer sheets, baby wipes, cloth diapers in your cleaning closet.
